Koli Nationalpark

Trip to the Koli Nationalpark

Saturday the 29th

On Saturday we and the French exchanging Students went with Ara to the Nationalpark Koli.
At first we were a little sad that Jaana wasn't going with us. But we have to say that we had a great time with Ara. He is a very funny guy.
After a two hour drive in the same direction we arrived at Koli.
Even if it was very foggy and we weren't able to enjoy the few it still was a beautifully place.
A visit is totally forth it. Ara told us some thing about the Park and the surroundings and also we talked about Clowns...
We had a nice time at the Park. Learning a little bit,
enjoying the nature and having great chats.

It was very foggy but Ara was in a good mood so we were too.
A lot of fog, trees and stones.
more fog, trees and stones

It was a beautiful place in the middel of the nature.

So, after we saw everything and after a video about the park in the museum we weren't going back. No.
Our next stop was a forrest, our Plan? Having a Bonefire and making a BBQ.
It sure was really cold but it was such a nice idea with really nice people at a beautiful place.

We were talking a lot about god and the world. Eating sausages doing marshmallows and just relaxing at a warm fire-place. The time went by fluently.
About 4pm we get back to our accomondation and we al were  chilled throug.

It was a really nice saturday. We saw a lot more from Finland and we got to know some new people.
If you ever be near Koli, go and visit this place. In winter, in summer it doesn't matter.
In all seasons the Nationalpark will look great.

After we were back we just layed down a little bit and the only aim was to get a littlebit warmer.

Hello Joensuu

Guiding Tour

Through Joensuu

Tuesday the 25th

After some presentations about Finnland some of the Students took us to a guiding tour through Joensuu. The three of us and Mrs. Krall were taken through Joensuu with some of the students, so that they learn how to make such guiding tours. We have to say that they did a good job. They did choose a interesting route and explained it very well. They showed us a Hotel, some night clubs and the shopping mall also a little totally cute place were you can buy self made things.

Sadly that was the last day Mrs. Krall was with us. We had a very nice time and a lot of fun with her. After we finished our "school day" we said goodbye to Mrs. Krall and went to the City center to drink a coffee and hot chocolate in a total lovely place.
Goodbye Mrs. Krall it was a nice time!
Thank you 😊

Wednesday the 26th

Normal Lesson Time...
With math, finish and physical education...
This day was the only day that was of no earthly use... The teacher didn't talked to us... We were just sitting in the class and doing nothing.
That day was just going by totally slow and we were happy when our day ended...

Plans for the evening?
Yes.
Two of us went with people from our accommodation to a lake. With a Campfire, sausages and to have a happy time but...
It really was a great idea but it didn't worked as imagined.

Thursday the 27th

And let's go to the next day!
Today we had a new teacher. He planed to go with us and the whole class to a Hotel. He prepared every thing in english also the guidance through the hotel was in English. The women from the reception who give us the guidance did a really good job. She told us a lot about the hotel and also answered a lot of questions. It was really interesting.

Friday the 28th

Today we took a look how the students learning the Service things in this school.
In the canteen the students layed the table for the other students. When the other students come to have their lunch they get served the drinks (water or milk, they had three different types of milk) and when the students leave the tables the plates were cleared away. And that's how they learn. Learning by doing. It was interesting to see in what different way they learn.

Our Day in Helsinki

Our Day In Helsinki.

Sunday the 23rd

The next morning we had time to walk through  Helsinki. It was kinda windy an cold but we were very curious about how that city will be. With not really an idea were to start or were to go first we started just walking in a direction.
But so we saw a lot of Helsinki.
The Harbor, the Johannes Church, older parts of the city and also the new parts.
There were a lot of little shops all around the town. Pubs, Coffee shops and so on.
Helsinki really is a big city and has offers for everyone.

In the afternoon we went to the train station and our travel to Joensuu began.
It was a four and a half hour drive through  the landscape of Finland. A lot of forest and between the typical red cottages.
When we arrived in Joensuu, jana picked us up and brought us to our accommodation. After putting our suitcases in our room we went to Restaurant "Amerillo" to have our dinner. It was a delicious and funny evening with Janaa.

But I have to say we were very happy to go to bed after that
long day... an we were excited about how our first day will be.

Monday the 24th

So our first day in Joensuu was here. Time to get to school and look how and what the finish students are doing and learning.  We got picked up by Janna and on our first day she brought us to school. We got some breakfast and after that we met "our" class-teacher Kaisa. With some students of the class we got a tour around the school.
The school and the people are much different from us in Austria.
It's interesting to get to know different culture and to see how the school system is diffrent from ours.
What was amazing is that the students prepared a
ot of stuff for us. They talked about what they learn in school, they told us abbout Finland and Joensuu and so on.
It was a nice first day at the "Phojois- Karjalan koulutuskunayhtymä".

After our school-day we went for a walk with Mrs. Krall and them went again to the "Amarillo" Restaurant for a drink and a little snack. We talked for a while and then went to our accommodation.
A nice first day in Joensuu ended an we was looking forward to the next days!

Finland here we come!

Finland here we come!

Saturday the 22nd

Our journey started very early in the morning. It was dark, cold and we were very tired. With a lack of sleep and curiosity we started from Spital. Our aim was the airport in Munich and without any delay we arrived and waited there for our start.
About three hours later our first flight to Amsterdam started and we were one step closer to Finland. With not much time left we walked straight threw the airport to get to our gate and the bording already was in full progress.

Two hours later...

Hello Helsinki and hello Finland!

Tired but happy we arrived and after a little drive with the bus we checked in at our Hotel and were ready to explore the Saturday nightlife in Helsinki.
Just a few meters down the street we found a little restaurant/bar with live music and we decided to go in there an have our Dinner. It really was a nice place to be "Lost in Helsinki".

It was comfortable, the atmosphere was great, the employee were nice and the food was delicious. Sadly the live music started a bit later and so we weren't able to hear it at all. After our dinner we wanted to go to a bar and we wanted to celebrate our arrival in this country and so we did in a pub called "The black door".  A good beer and a nice talk at a really nice place it was a perfect ending of an arduously day.
But we all were very happy to go to the bed after all and get some sleep.
But hey! We are in Finnland!
